Nardello & Co. Adds Veteran Forensic Accountant, CPA John Slavek

Global investigations and advisory firm Nardello & Co. announced today that John Slavek, a Certified Public Accountant with three decades of forensic accounting, financial investigations, and litigation support experience, has joined the firm’s New York office as a Managing Director. Slavek is the latest prominent advisor to join Nardello & Co.’s Financial Investigations & Forensic Accounting practice, which launched last year. His arrival strengthens the firm’s widely recognized capabilities in high-profile financial investigations, including its work on the FTX fraud and its tracing of Sackler family assets on behalf of Purdue Pharma’s creditors.

Slavek has led cross-border investigations into corporate fraud, bribery, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations, and bankruptcies, and played a key role in resolving the bankruptcy of the Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation, at the time, the largest not-for-profit healthcare bankruptcy in US history. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous disputes involving fraudulent financial reporting, improper accounting, lost profits, and other forensic accounting matters.

Prior to joining Nardello & Co., Slavek was a Managing Director at a top financial and risk advisory firm.

“The outcomes of complex forensic accounting investigations often turn on who understands the financial facts best,” said Sabina Menschel, Nardello & Co.’s Chief Executive Officer. “John has spent 30 years uncovering those facts. His experience deepens our ability to deliver answers for clients when the stakes are highest.”

Warren Feldman, head of Nardello & Co.’s Financial Investigations & Forensic Accounting practice, added, “John is the rare forensic accountant who has successfully led investigations in multiple countries, served as an auditor at a Big Four, and testified as an expert witness in high-profile litigation. Clients will benefit from his ability to distill complex accounting into clear, compelling insights for use in litigation, negotiation, or internal reviews.”

“Nardello & Co. has built a reputation for leading the most significant investigations in the world,” said Slavek. “I look forward to expanding the firm’s Financial Investigations & Forensic Accounting practice and providing the clarity clients need to translate financial facts into actionable findings.”

Slavek holds a Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and an Internal Controls certification issued by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO). He is an active member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Bar Association, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Slavek graduated with high honors from Rutgers University, where he obtained his BS in accounting.
